Terms of service

1. Agreement

These terms apply to baschen.is and the apps and games it hosts: the Dope web and Android apps, the Family Budget Android app, and games.baschen.is (together, "the services"). The services are run by Anthony Baschenis ("I", "me"). By using them, you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the services.

2. The services

The services are free, non-commercial projects run by one person. I may change, pause or stop any of them at any time. When I plan to shut down an app that holds your data, I will try to give signed-in users at least 30 days' notice and a way to export their data.

3. Accounts

• You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
• Give a valid email address, keep your password and devices secure, and tell me if you think someone else is using your account. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
• If you sign in with Google, Google's own terms also apply to your Google account.
• Family Budget is invite only. The person who creates a family group decides who joins it.

4. Acceptable use

Don't:

• break the law, or use the services to help someone else break it;
• post content in shared areas (such as Dope sites and ranges) that is false, misleading, offensive, infringes someone's rights, or reveals private property or personal information without permission;
• try to access data or accounts that aren't yours, probe or attack the services, or get around their limits;
• overload the services, scrape them, or access them with automated tools other than the apps themselves;
• resell or commercially exploit the services.

I may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules, without notice if needed to protect the services or other users.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of what you put into the services. You give me a limited permission to store, process and display it only as needed to run the services for you. For content you add to shared areas, such as Dope sites and ranges, you also let other users of that app see and use it, and edit it where the app allows. You confirm you have the right to share what you post.

6. Dope: safety and accuracy

Dope is a calculation aid, not a safety device. Its ballistic solutions are estimates based on models, the data you enter and weather from third parties, and they can be wrong. You are solely responsible for:

• verifying every correction with live fire before relying on it;
• following firearm safety rules and the rules of the range;
• knowing your target and what is beyond it;
• complying with all laws on firearms, ammunition, hunting and where you shoot.

Shared sites and ranges are added by users and are not checked by me. Their presence in the app does not mean you are allowed to shoot there.

7. Family Budget: not financial advice

Family Budget helps you organise bills and totals. Its figures and year-end summary are not financial, tax or legal advice. Check important numbers against your own records before you rely on them, for example in a tax return.

8. The software

The apps, games, their code, design and content are mine or used under licence. You may use them for your own personal use under these terms. Don't copy, modify or redistribute them except where a separate open-source licence lets you.

9. Third-party services

The services rely on others, including Amazon Web Services, Google (sign-in, Firebase, Drive, Play) and Open-Meteo. I am not responsible for their availability or for content on sites I link to.

10. No warranty

The services are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and uninterrupted availability. Keep your own copies of data that matters to you.

11. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, I am not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the services, and my total liability for any claim is limited to zero, since the services are free. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, and nothing removes your rights as a consumer under the law where you live.

12. Ending

You can stop using the services at any time and ask me to delete your account (see the privacy policy). I may close accounts that break these terms or that have been inactive for more than two years, after warning you by email where I can.

13. Changes to these terms

I may update these terms. I will change the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell signed-in users in the app or by email before they take effect. If you keep using the services after that, the new terms apply.
